| Tom Lane is a member of the PostgreSQL core team and a prominent code contributor. He spends as much time as he can on improving the query planner, but has been seen getting his fingers dirty in most other parts of the Postgres sources too. Before he started spending so much time on Postgres, Tom was well known in the image compression community for his work on libjpeg and the PNG and TIFF standards.
